Deli in Jerusalem

Shmaltz Deli

Location: Ramat Eskol

Price Point: $$

Kosher: Yes

Vegan and Gluten free options: A few (its a Deli place)

Ahhh deli meat, who doesn’t love a sweet reminder of New York. I’ll keep this one short and sweet. Shmaltz is a nice Restaurant in Ramat Eskol, the food is decent, it comes in huge proportions and satisfies the craving. Is it excellent? Is it life changing? Meh. Let’s just say I didn’t have a spiritual awaking when eating it. However, it is tasty overall and very generous. Prices are high for sandwiches (70 NIS) - so don’t go there if you are broke. The sandwich comes with two sides, you can choose fries, coleslaw, latkes, pickles and rice. The waiters will recommend the latkes for you, but there are super deep-fried so if you have heart pain eating fried foods- stay away and get the pickles instead. The staff was very sweet, however, very slow, we were the only people there and our order took over 20 mins to get done, with half of it delivered while the other half of people just waited.

Overall: Good to try once and decide for yourself especially if you are a deli lover.

Atmosphere: 7/10

Service: 4/10

Food: 6.9/10 (I’m a bit picky but meat lovers might like it more than me.)
